Cool Wood Photo Panels

I have noticed wood photo panels just like the ones I make listed as photo gallery blocks, gallery panels, and photo art panels; whatever you choose to call them they are just plain cool, and a very unique way to display your photos. I have also found them listed online for insane amounts of money, starting at $95.00 for a small one. I’m sure if you have researched them you have found the same. Like anyone else, I’d like to see some profit, but I am not going to soak people for huge sums of money. That is just bad Karma…

My photo gallery blocks come in the following sizes: 4×4, 4×6, 5×5, 5×7, 6×6, 8×8, 8×10. Thickness: 1 inch deep, and 1.5 inches deep. I can paint the wood black or leave just natural wood. Personalized message on the back , no extra charge. The wood photo panels can either be mounted to a wall or used as a desktop display. Turn around time is quick, I just need a photo in the highest resolution that you have emailed to me, and I will take it from there.

Paper options: What makes my photo panels stand out from the rest, is the photo paper options that I have available. I have some really nice cotton photo rag paper. This paper is very different from other photo paper in that it has a texture that almost looks like canvas. Not everyone likes this paper, so I recommend you look at the samples in the photo gallery to get a better idea of the look. I like sepia tones on this paper, especially with the frames painted black, but color images also look very nice as well. If you prefer a more classic look, I have some nice photo satin paper; which as a semi-gloss finish. This is a great choice if you don’t want the high gloss of the metallic photo paper, and are unsure about the cotton photo rag. It’s a perfect middle ground between the two. Lastly, the metallic photo paper. This paper is very unique, and probably my most favorite photo paper. It is an excellent choice for wedding photos , especially photos in black and white, and sepia tones, as well as color images . I copied the description directly from my paper supplier as they did a great job of describing this paper.

What is the surface like? If you’ve ever seen a photo lab metallic print you will likely enjoy the look. Think of a high gloss surface with a pleasing slightly warm tone. Overall, images have a glow almost like light is coming from the paper. Now imagine that the solid colors and white space in your image take on an extra effect that mixes metallic hints and pearlescent colorful reflections.What types of images look good on this surface? Polar Pearl Metallic will add luminance and depth to any image. Some types of photography lend themselves to being printing on a metallic surface. Images with solid colors, reflections, and negative space (whites) will look especially stunning on this new paper.

As with the photo rag paper, metallic photo paper is a matter of personal taste, so if in doubt either ask me for a recommendation on your photo , or just go with the satin photo paper. Fun and Funky Pet Photography

I stumbled into pet photography and fell in love with it rather quickly. What’s not to love… Pet photography allows me to play, interact, and to shoot fast and loose. As a budding photographer I think it’s important to try to set yourself apart. I feel like I am doing this to a certain extent with my custom photo tiles and gallery photo blocks, but I also like funky things including funky shots . Imperfect Photography

Photography is about capturing the moment, and sometimes, the best moments are not perfect in terms of composition, angle , light etc… In the past I have avoided posting photos that I thought could be better… , but I have realized sometimes you have to just lighten up and shoot. I never want to lose the “fun and creative spirit” in photography, so I am embracing my imperfect photography , maybe it will get me out of my creative funk! Lifestyle and Candid Pet Photography Boston

I have read a lot about marketing lately. It’s a subject that I find about as appealing as sticking a fork in my eye, but it is something that I need to learn more about if I am going to grow my business. Recently, I picked up a book that is packed with catch phrases and enthusiasm! After about an hour of reading I was just feeling annoyed that I spent the money on the book. So far, the only thing the author said that really made sense to me was I had to define my style of photography and market it in a way that connects with my audience. So what is my style… I must confess I never really thought I needed to define my style. I decided to Google some other pet photographers and sure enough most of them had a label attached to their work. If anything I think my style is Lifestyle photography, so I decided to Google that and found the definition is pretty broad but for me Lifestyle Photography is about capturing my subjects in their element, and in a fun and relaxed manner with the goal of bringing out your pets true personality. There are some pet photographers that shoot amazing studio work, but that is just not me. I want to get down on your pets level, interacting with them and allowing them to interact with their surroundings. This is when I capture the most expressive and candid shots. I am more concerned with capturing the soul of the pet and less concerned with technical composition of the shot, although I do try to compose carefully. So there you have it…my style in a nutshell. Now I just have to find my audience.I’m sure I left them around here somewhere….

About Me

I live in Chelsea, Ma, just outside of Boston, ma. I have worked with animals for several years now as part of my pet care business, and I think being around animals on a daily basis has made me a better pet photographer. The biggest thing I have noticed about pet photography is it makes people feel good. I love seeing the smile on someones face when they see a photo of their cat or dog, there is nothing like it. There are a ton of pet photographers all who are very talented, so Why choose me..? My passion for pet photography comes through in my work. I think my photography is unique in that go straight to the heart by capturing your pets true personality. I will stand on my head, crawl on my belly, and look otherwise ridiculous to get that shot that is “your pet”. Isn’t this the point of hiring a pet photographer … to capture expressive photos of your pet that are full of personality. I strive to do just that with my work. a shoot with me is a relaxed and fun experience for everyone, I don’t limit the length of the session, it takes as long as it takes… I prefer to not structure the shoot, but rather just let the dogs be dogs, and cats be cats etc… and allow the shoot unfold in the moment. When working with dogs, I prefer to shoot outside in areas where dog can safely be off leash doing their thing. I can also do a pet photography session inside, I just want your photos to look as natural as possible, and this usually happens outside when dogs are being dogs…

Rates: I am trying to keep my rates for pet photography affordable, but I also need to take care of myself in the process. I have researched Boston pet photographer rates, and because I am just starting out, I think a fee of $125.00. I am willing to travel, but please add $50.00 if you are more than an hour from Boston. Included in the rate is a photo CD of your shoot so your can either order prints from me or get your prints elsewhere. If you choose to go through me, I have some really nice, high-end specialty papers, which will really make your images “pop” Please note, the largest print I can do in-house is 8×10. I shoot everything in the highest resolution possible, so if you want enlargements of any photos there are many online services that I can recommend that have great printing options. My 365 Day Photo Project

Recently, I read a great article about taking a 365 day photo challenge. The long and short of it was to stretch your creative muscles by taking a photo every day and not necessarily of your usual subject, to step outside of your comfort zone try new techniques etc…I love playing with my camera , so this appeals to me on a lot of levels. In the spirit of getting myself “out there” I decided I am going to try to do my own 365 day photo shoot. Taking a photo everyday is a big commitment, so we’ll see how it goes… I’ve posted a few of my favorites here. My life on “pawz”

I love word play, always have, always will. When you take a photo, you are capturing a moment of life, and essentially pausing it . Since I primarily photograph dogs, I couldn’t resist the play on the word “pawz”, plus all the other cutesy names were gone . I spend pretty much every day surrounded by dogs. You learn a few things about yourself, and life when you hang out with animals. I plan to use this blog to not only showcase my pet photography, but also to share a few stories I have collected during my own “life on pause”. You see, I gave up a career to walk dogs. I can’t tell you how many blank stares I get when I tell people this. Yes, I walk dogs… I get slobbered on, break up tussles, pick up poop all day, pull things out of mouths, and repeat myself constantly, and I love all of it… well , I could do without the poop.

The truth is, I have never really regretted my decision to leave my career. I didn’t walk away, I ran as fast as I could! I am still certain I made the right decision, but I also sometimes feel as though my life is on “pause” waiting for the next phase to begin….What that will be I don’t know, hopefully the dogs will help me figure it out . God knows, I can’t just walk dogs until I’m ready or retire or can I….Stay tuned for photos , dog bios, and stories oh my…the stories…!
