Wisdom from the Dog & the Cat, if they have time
We all have our own little quirks and animals are no different. As odd as their behavior seems to us sometimes, if you look hard enough you can find little pearls of wisdom, and if nothing else you can get a good laugh out of it.
Wisdom: Make sure you get some exercise :
Emma, is an English Bulldog who really likes her routine. Recently, we had a pretty hot day here in New England. Bulldogs have horrible respiratory systems, and it can be dangerous if they get too hot. I decided I would give Emma a break, and just take her out back to pee, and then hang out with her inside. When we went outside, Emma followed me around, looking up at me like “I want to go for my walk”. How do you explain to a dog that it’s too hot to walk…? I was doing my best convince her to pee in the yard, but it was clear my tactics were not working…. I didn’t want her to over heat, so I put her leash on her, and took her twenty steps across the street. Emma immediately peed, and then trotted happily back to her house. Emma pays me to walk with her, and she was going to get her walk, even if it lasted under a minute. You gotta love a woman who sticks to her guns!
Wisdom: Carpe Diem:
You would also be wise to seize anything, and I mean anything, that might be food. No matter how long it has been laying around on the street, or if happens to be currently located in the trash. If you are really quick, you might be able to get someone’s lunch, jackpot… Once you have the food item in your mouth, be sure to run around in a frenzy, and whatever you do don’t give it up the food. Believe it or not, Brady is not starving, although he would have you think otherwise… he just loves food, the smell of it, the sight of it, even the word itself will elicit an enthusiastic response from this otherwise mellow guy. I have personally seen this dog take off like a bolt of lighting down the beach after some unsuspecting soul’s lunch, leaving me in the dust. I caught up with him just in time to see Brady jumping up on the picnic table, and running off with the aforementioned “unsuspecting soul’s ” lunch.
Anything is fair game in Brady’s eyes … To date, I have lost a sandwich, 1/2 of a pizza, and a muffin to Brady. Thankfully not in the same day, and sh… don’t tell his Mom. Despite his food obsession, Brady is my buddy and I love him . He has a charm that will just melt your heart. Seriously, just look at him… When you are that cute, a stolen lunch is easy to forgive. Unless, you are that guy on the beach…I don’t think he will even get over the day a dog stole his lunch. Check back for some wisdom from Brady’s sister, Holly and many of the other dogs in my care.
